Inventor and engineer behind LZR Engineering, MR129, PRINTATRON and IDBLADE.
“I'm just making stuff and learning.”
Where I've been, and what I'm building now
This page is a mix of where I've been and what I'm building now. I've spent over a decade designing machines, creating automotive parts, and helping turn ideas into real things.
From large-format 3D printers to custom Mercedes aero designs, I've always chased projects that blend creativity with engineering. My work spans across aerospace, automotive, and 3D printing — but at the core, it's all about building cool things that work.
How and why I work
I do things the old-fashioned way: by hand, on real machines, with real parts. Before I trust an idea, I test it in the real world — print it, fit it, run it, break it, make it better. That is how I worked long before AI could draw a picture of the thing, and it is still how I work now.
That way of working is why all of this exists. LZR, MR129, PRINTATRON, IDBLADE — every one of them started as something I built, tested, and proved myself. The tools will keep changing. The standard doesn't: if it hasn't survived the real world, it isn't finished.
The Work
Precision aero parts, designed and 3D-printed for the Mercedes-Benz R129.
Large-format 3D printer systems — machine research and development, built in-house.
Everyday-carry products — RSA token badge holders and desk accessories.
The world's first shipping-container 3D printer platform. The first chapter, 2015–2021.
A powered wheelchair headrest for multi-axis comfort, without tools.
The proof
Delivered a multi-material, 5-axis large-format printer — 60% faster prototyping.
Engineered a rugged large-format printer optimized for classified maritime prototyping.
Specialized large-scale and containerized composite production systems, delivered.
Inventor of the patented containerized 3D printing technology behind Millebot — and 10+ years designing machines and automotive parts.
What Clients Say
“Delivered a production‑ready large‑format printer under an aggressive schedule.”
“Andy turned our CAD into a manufacturable assembly in weeks, not months.”
“Clear, practical advisory that helped us scale without chaos.”

Beyond the companies
Not everything I make is a company. These are personal creations — large paintings and one-off pieces, made for the same reason as everything else on this page: I wanted them to exist.
From the workbench
Digital creations, tools, and resources from my own workbench — the files and know-how behind the work on this page. This shelf is being stocked now; the first resources are in preparation. When they're ready, they'll be offered under LZR Engineering — Modern Inventor is the story, LZR is the store.
Digital Creations
Original digital works and design files, made to be used.
In the worksTools
Practical tools from my own process — the ones I actually use.
In the worksGuides & Resources
Informational resources on building, printing, and inventing — the old-fashioned way.
In the worksThis is how to reach me
I don't take on client services — but if you're building something interesting, this is how to reach me. Partnerships, collaborations, and press are welcome here.
